We started watching Archive 81 last night – I have to admit, I was a little more into the restoration shots than the set up, but the story slowly grew on me.
Amy and I are well-acquainted with long hours in an editing room (for example) and hearing voices that weren’t on your soundtrack. I spent two years at WRS Film Lab, which was basically an underground bunker, often alone late into the night with just the drone of the machines and the clouds of toxic chemicals wandering the hallways.
I put a lot of those experiences into HOT SPLICES, my collection of semi-related stories dealing with art, deviance, psychosis, drug abuse, and film addiction. So if you’re digging Archive 81 and want something ALONG those lines, I have a couple of signed copies lying around the house…
And check out that cover by Ryan Hose!
